Job Shadowing in Coimbra, Portugal

Horizont

From the 2nd to the 6th of November 2025, the Horizon ProConsult team, together with representatives of the National Trade and Banking High School in Sofia, National Trade High School in Plovdiv, and Trade High School in Stara Zagora, carried out its first working visit under Project No. 2025-1-BG01-KA121-VET-000312650, funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ program.

The mobility was implemented within the framework of the National Consortium for Improving the Quality of VET in the fields of Business Administration, Economics and Trade – HORIZON, with a focus on observing good practices, exchanging experience and building partnerships for the development of vocational education and training (VET).

The program was implemented in partnership with the Erasmus Mondego organisation, which coordinated the visits. Over the course of five days, we learned about the key features of the Portuguese education system, the model of internship programs, and the cooperation between schools, non-governmental organisations, and businesses in Coimbra.

Organizations visited:

CASPAE – a non-governmental organisation that supports social integration in schools in Coimbra, promotes informal methods of education, and provides internships for students from various specialities.
X-Action Lda. – a commercial company that actively works with vocational schools and interns in the field of trade.
Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo de Coimbra – a leading vocational school for tourism and hospitality, part of the Turismo de Portugal network.
Qualifica AEOurém Program – a national program for the validation and improvement of adult qualifications, which is fully funded by the Portuguese Ministry of Education.
Livensa Living Coimbra – an innovative student campus that also accepts administration interns and offers a modern educational environment.

The experience in Coimbra filled us with new ideas, inspiration, and confidence that change in education begins with cooperation and shared experience. Meetings with mentors, teachers, and business representatives showed us how important it is to build bridges between schools and real-world practice in order to develop more modern and future-oriented vocational education in Bulgaria.

We would like to thank Mondego Mobilities and all the host organisations for their hospitality and shared experience!
