From June 29, 2026, to July 21, 2026, 18 students from the “Marin Popov” Vocational High School in Sevlievo, accompanied by two teachers, successfully completed a work placement in Zaragoza, Spain, as part of the “Erasmus+” program, Project No. 2025-1-BG01-KA121-VET-000312705, in partnership with the host organization MUNDUS.
During the three-week mobility program, students majoring in “Freight Forwarder-Logistics” and “Mechanic” received hands-on training in a real-world work environment, where they had the opportunity to apply the knowledge they acquired in school, develop new professional skills, and familiarize themselves with modern technologies and best European practices.
Students in the “Freight Forwarder-Logistics” program participated in real-world activities related to the organization of warehouse processes – receiving, sorting, processing, and shipping of goods; preparing warehouse and transport documentation; grouping shipments according to customer orders; as well as arranging, securing, and loading goods in accordance with established safety requirements. This hands-on experience helped them improve their organizational skills, precision in handling documentation, and ability to work in a dynamic logistics environment.
The future mechanics participated in activities related to the technical maintenance of cars and tractors, engine diagnostics and troubleshooting, the disassembly and assembly of major components and mechanisms, maintenance of cooling, lubrication, and fuel systems, as well as repair, installation, and technical inspection tasks. In this way, they built upon their practical skills, learned to work with professional tools and equipment, and reinforced their knowledge of the proper sequence of steps when performing repair work.
As early as the first week, the participants successfully adapted to their new work environment and began their hands-on training. Alongside their professional responsibilities, they had the opportunity to explore the sights of Zaragoza and learn about the city’s rich history and culture. One of the most impressive cultural experiences was a visit to the Aljafería Palace – one of the best-preserved examples of Islamic architecture in Spain. Built in the 11th century, the palace impresses with its beautiful arches, rich ornamentation, and inner courtyards.
During the second week, the students continued their professional training while also exploring the city, known as one of Spain’s most important industrial and logistics hubs. Zaragoza combines over 2,000 years of history with dynamic economic development, making it a particularly suitable location for the professional training of future specialists in the fields of logistics and engineering.
As part of the cultural program, the participants also visited the Zaragoza Aquarium – the largest river aquarium in Europe and the third-largest in the world. There, they explored the rich diversity of river ecosystems from five continents and learned interesting facts about the animal species inhabiting the Nile, Mekong, Amazon, Mississippi, and Ebro rivers.
After successfully completing the internship, the participants returned to Bulgaria with a wealth of new knowledge, professional experience, friendships, and unforgettable memories. This mobility program proved once again that “Erasmus+” is much more than an educational program – it is an opportunity for personal development, cultural exchange, professional growth, and fostering a sense of European identity.
